I’m Jean, the heart behind Crystal Maiden Studio, where a lifelong love of rocks and gemstones has grown into something I’m excited to share with others.

My fascination with stones began in childhood and eventually led me into years of sluicing and rockhounding across North Carolina and beyond. As my collection of rough pieces grew, so did my curiosity about the beauty hidden inside each one. I wanted to learn how to bring that beauty forward.

That curiosity led me to a six‑week lapidary course at Sawtooth School for Visual Art in Winston‑Salem, NC, where I learned to cut, shape, and polish natural stone. I continued building my skills through additional classes in gemstone faceting and wire wrapping, discovering new ways to showcase the character and color of every stone I touched.

I quickly fell in love with the process—starting with an ordinary-looking piece of rough stone and slowly revealing the beauty within.

And from that passion, Crystal Maiden Studio was born.

Some rocks are cut, shaped, and polished to reveal their hidden beauty, while others are best left just as nature created them.

I'm especially drawn to stones with personality—that unexpected flash of color, the beautiful banding, the unusual inclusions, UV fluorescence, or a pattern created entirely by nature.

Because every natural stone is unique, I believe in showing you the actual piece you're purchasing as honestly as possible. Its variations and natural characteristics aren't flaws—they're part of its story.
